Billy Boyd on Sneaking Into the Brit Awards: Shots With Green Day, Meeting Snoop Dogg and Pharrell

What the film didn't have time for

Billy Boyd is the real-life Silibil — one half of Silibil N' Brains, the Scottish duo who spent years in London passing themselves off as Californian rappers, a story now told in the film California Schemin'. In a solo interview with JF Pictures on October 22, 2026, Billy talked about his new book, Silibil N' Brains: But What About Really?, and what ended up on its pages that the film couldn't fit in.

The film compresses years of chaos into about ninety minutes. Billy's answer, when asked what someone who has only seen the movie missed, starts with the D12 moment the film captured well — and then goes somewhere the film never went: the night he talked his way into the Brit Awards.

The Brit Awards sneak-in

Posing as an artist who belonged on the guest list, Billy got himself into one of the biggest nights in British music without an invitation. Inside, still in character as a Californian, he drank shots at the bar with Green Day and met Snoop Dogg and Pharrell — even making plans to go skating back in California. The full story is told in his book; it didn't make the film.

The Conversation — In His Own Words

Billy Boyd, in his own words, from the JF Pictures interview recorded October 22, 2026:

A lot more chaos, and a lot more of how we pushed it as well. I mean, in the film, obviously you have the D12 moment, which they've captured really well.

But there was loads more other things as well. Like, there was a whole Brit Awards scene. Now, I don't know if you guys are familiar with the Brit Awards, but it's like — what do you have, the VMAs or something? The MTV Awards, that kind of thing that you have over there. So the Brit Awards is our version of that, which is a huge event for music.

And there was a point that I write about in the book, that I tell about how I managed to sneak my way in there by pretending I was on the guest list and pretending I was an artist. I should be on there. And I managed to sneak in even though I wasn't meant to be there.

And I was hanging out with all these celebrities. I was drinking shots at the bar with Green Day, and I met Snoop Dogg, Pharrell. So many people that I've talked about all that inside the book. And some great moments where I'm drinking with Green Day as a Californian guy, with a California accent, and talking about meeting up when we go back to California — when we're back out, we should go skating and stuff.

So all these crazy moments that obviously happened in part of my life — things that I've captured in the book that maybe they didn't have time to do in the film. So yeah, there's loads of stuff like that that's also in there. A lot of madness.
